Today is day 4 of the More Than a Mum compassion challenge.
Today’s challenge was to buy flowers and hand them out. With nerves and optimism, I took miss 2.5 to the local shops, we purchased a beautiful bunch of white roses and then split them into single flowers. I decided it would be a lovely opportunity to teach my daughter about kindness, and she was so excited to choose a flower and also decide on the recipient. She smiled, and showed so much love and confidence as she carefully picked up the flowers one by one. She chose men and women of different ages, and the final flower, she gave to a newborn baby 💕.
The first lady that she approached left me in tears… as soon as the lady realised what was happening, she told us, a colleague is is having a rough week, I’m going to go back to work and give the rose to her. She refused to accept another rose, telling me she wanted to pay it forward.

Many recipients smiled, beaming at little one and telling her she was very kind. Little miss was careful to tell them how to hold the flower to avoid the prickles. Another lady told me she wasn’t having a great day, and the rose had made her smile. She really wanted to offer something from her groceries to my daughter to repay the kindness… I declined, and told her I was glad we made her smile. Another lovely couple told us that they would soon celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary. Most of the men checked with me that it was ok to keep it, and one joked about being an early valentine.
I’m so glad that we could be part of something bigger than ourselves, and proud to know that we would have lifted the spirits of at least 12 people today, if only for a moment.
Have you filled a cup today?

I sooooo love this idea. Such a great gesture and so good to teach our little young ones how to be kind as there isnt much kindness out there anymore. x

Thanks so much, it was wonderful to see people smiling and engaging. Doing this activity today really made me aware how many people are head down on a mission or looking at their phones instead of being present with the world around them.
